The exact time of purchase of a Diamond Engagement Ring is entirely up to you. You and your future wife might look together for her dream Diamond Engagement ring, or you might prefer to buy it before you propose to her and surprise her with the Diamond Engagement Ring during your proposal.

How much should I spend?
What you pay for your Diamond Engagement Ring is also entirely up to you. However, a general guideline to follow is two months salary. It may seem like a lot of money to spend on a Diamond Engagement Ring, but if you consider that not only is your Diamond Engagement Ring a great symbol of love, but it is also a great investment.

What do I need to know about diamonds?
You already know that a Diamond Engagement Ring is a most precious symbol of love between two people.

As promised, we will guide you through the steps you need to know to help you purchase a Diamond Ring that is not only unique, but also of the highest quality.

How do I know I’m buying quality?
You will need to take the four C’s of a Diamond into consideration:

Cut: When cut to good proportions, a diamond is better able to handle light, creating more sparkle.

Colour: The best colour for a diamond is no colour. However, the majority of diamonds range from barely perceptible yellow or brownish tint up to the very rare “fancies” which are pinks, blues and greens.

Clarity: Most diamonds contain tiny inclusions, not discernible to the naked eye. Fewer and smaller inclusions are less likely to interfere with the passage of light through the diamond, thus the more it will sparkle.

Carat-weight: The weight of the diamond is measured in carats. One carat is divided into 100 “points”. A diamond of 65 points would weigh .65 carats. Depending on the cut, colour and clarity of a diamond, two diamonds of equal weight could vary significantly in price.

We at Erikson’s Diamond Centre will be happy to explain the 4C’s and show you the difference between various qualities of diamonds. We are an internationally recognised Diamond Centre and will help you choose the best quality diamond.

What is the best shape for my Diamond Engagement Ring?

The cut of your diamond will determine its brilliance, and its beauty. The round brilliant is the most popular shape, but there are many other shapes to choose from; the round brilliant, princess, emerald, pear, radiant, marquise, square, rectangle, oval, heart, asscher & trillion
