How do I know I’m buying quality?
You will need to take the four C’s of a Diamond into consideration:
Cut: When cut to good proportions, a diamond is better able to handle light, creating more sparkle.
Colour: The best colour for a diamond is no colour. However, the majority of diamonds range from barely perceptible yellow or brownish tint up to the very rare “fancies” which are pinks, blues and greens.
Clarity: Most diamonds contain tiny inclusions, not discernible to the naked eye. Fewer and smaller inclusions are less likely to interfere with the passage of light through the diamond, thus the more it will sparkle.
Carat-weight: The weight of the diamond is measured in carats. One carat is divided into 100 “points”. A diamond of 65 points would weigh .65 carats. Depending on the cut, colour and clarity of a diamond, two diamonds of equal weight could vary significantly in price.
